(2 year fixed term contract)Main purpose of the jobTo conduct analyses leading to the development of strategic recommendations and policy documents; interpret and use complex information and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the International Decision Support Initiative Sub-Sahara Africa Programme. LocationSchool of Public Health – ParktownKey performance areas Support senior staff in developing PRICELESS and IDSI strategies, policies and initiatives relating to the technical assistance and consultancy work with national governments (including South Africa), development partners and donors.Lead and support technical work related to PRICELESS and IDSILead and support scoping and needs assessment activities, work with clients and local experts to identify current practices and capacity.Prepare and give presentations on highly complex and sometimes conflicting or contentious information to large multidisciplinary groups.Assist with writing, editing and publishing of reports and journal articles.Present the work of PRICELESS or IDSI at international conferences and meetings.Develop and maintain records of work to ensure an audit trails, including bibliographic databases and records of literature searches.Prepare and produce reports and give presentations to other PRICELESS staff, IDSI partners and other stakeholders.Report to IDSI Project manager on project scheduling and key milestone delivery.Design templates to assist in data collection and analysis.Evaluate risk and its impact on PRICELESS and IDSI projectsDevelop processes for carrying out needs assessment and tracking, coordinating and facilitating initiatives to support the project and its activities.Collate and analyse information from a variety of international health care systems and reimbursement processes/mechanisms.Critically appraise relevant research studies, epidemiological data, activity data and other information.Keep abreast of changes in legislation, standards and best practises to ensure that new developments are fed into the work of PRICELESS SA.Required minimum education and trainingPostgraduate degree in either Economics, Management, Public Health or Political Science. Required minimum work experienceMinimum of 2 years experience in public health policy, analysis and research.Additional education, work experience and personal abilitiesExperience in health policy and donor-funded programmes in Sub-Saharan Africa would be an advantage.Experience in use of MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Ability to synthesise complex information.Interest in health technology assessment (HTA) and economic evaluation.Systematic analytical thinking and strategy development.Attention to details.Good communication and presentation skills.Strong quantitative skills. Able to maintain confidentiality, tact and professionalism at all times.
