SENIOR ANALYST (GRADE 6), MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS DIVISION. – Competition Commission ZA – Pretoria, Gauteng

Please note that one position is available on a five (5) years fixed term contract, renewable.

A starting annual total cost to company package of R 742 935.52 (negotiable commensurate with experience)

Minimum Requirements:

We are looking for a dynamic, hardworking and committed individual who is in possession of:

  • Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification.
  • 4-6years overall experience including 2-3 years in a management or supervisory position.
  • Admission as an attorney or advocate would be an added advantage.
  • Prior exposure to competition law/ economics will be an added advantage.

Competencies Required

  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical,
  • Communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Understanding and interest in competition law/ economics matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties include, amongst others:

  • To investigate merger cases notified to the Commission in terms of Chapter 3 of the Competition Act and accompanying Rules and make recommendations to decision makers.
  • To conduct research and provide advice to decision makers on the impact of mergers in the economy.
  • To head the monitoring unit, monitor merger conditions and assisting the division in drafting of merger conditions.
  • To lead, supervise and provide guidance to a small team of merger analysts.
  • To assist the Divisional Manager with the strategic planning, staff management, and development as well as general administration of the Mergers and Acquisitions Division.
