Position Purpose :
To scope, design, benchmark and implement a total technical security solution within TFR facilities, marshalling yards, admin
Buildings, Containers, railways, substations, depots, terminals, etc. To also ensure that all systems implemented are
properly maintained and fully functional.
Position outputs :
•Identify possible threats and risks pertaining to theft, break-ins etc. that are imminent to the organisation
•Attend to adhoc call-outs after hours
•Identify if the technical security system design will cater for a building, yard or open rail reserve
•Work from statistical trending of highly impacted areas/places that poses a risk to the business and needs technical security
interventions
•Conduct technical security risk assessments of the impacted areas/places
•Identify technical security systems/products in the market as a solution to risk within Transnet’s standards

•Design technical security solutions in order to counter act against identified risks for identified areas
•Conduct technical security system audits nationally in order to ensure that all systems are accounted for
•Conduct a needs analysis with regards to power and data connectivity for identified sites
•Prepare a bill of quantity of equipment that will be used in the design
•Ensure that current and prospective service providers comply with Transnet specifications and standards
•Ensure that the all project activities are managed on a regular basis, in order to track progress
•Conduct regular site visits in order to verify physical work done and ensure commissioning before it is signed off
•Ensure that invoices are verified and recommended to be processed for payment
•Ensuring that all general administration functions and project coordination is executed regularly
•Consolidate a snag list for the purpose of adjusting and enhancing the system for optimal function and benefit
•Manage the blue print for enhancement and future upgrades of the systems
•Provide technical security advisory service to all Transnet operating divisions
•Ensure that spares are available and handed over to Technicians on signature for reverse logistics records
•Ensure maintenance cycle is carried out in terms of maintenance project plan
•Prepare and submit weekly and monthly project progress reports
•Identify and escalate overspending to Manager to take corrective action
•Render Technical support on non-functioning software/hardware and future upgrades
Qualifications Experience :
