RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for: Active participation and leadership in the research agenda of the Department; Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Computer Science; Departmental administrative tasks.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Senior Lecturer: A Doctorate in Computer Science; Publications in accredited journals and conferences; Active engagement as a researcher in a research focus area of the Department of Computer Science, with a proven research record; Extensive lecturing experience in Computer Science on both undergraduate and graduate levels; Active in postgraduate supervision.
Associate Professor (same as for Senior Lecturer, plus): At least national recognition as a researcher
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
For both levels: Experience in both Linux and Windows operating systems; Experience in programming languages such as C++, Java, Scala and Python; Expertise in software engineering and/or software architecture; Big Data and Data Science experience; Experience in big data platforms such as Hadoop and Sparc.
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.

SENIOR LEKTOR / MEDEPROFESSOR (EEN POS)

Senior Lektor: ‘ n Doktorsgraad in Rekenaarwetenskap; Publikasies in geakkrediteerde tydskrifte en konferensies; Aktiewe betrokkenheid as navorser in ‘n navorsingsfokusarea van die Departement Rekenaarwetenskap, met ‘n bewese navorsingsrekord; Uitgebreide onderwyservaring in Rekenaarwetenskap op beide voor- en nagraadse vlak; Aktiewe nagraadse toesighouding.
Medeprofessor (selfe as vir Senior Lektor, plus): Ten minste nasionale erkenning as ‘n navorser.
BYKOMENDE VOORDELE EN VOORKEURE:
Vir beide vlakke: Ervaring in beide Linux en Windows bedryfstelsels; Ervaring in programmeringstale soos C++, Java, Scala en Python; Kundigheid in programmatuuringenieurswese en/of programmatuurargitektuur; Groot data en datawetenskapervaring; Ervaring in groot data platforms soos Hadoop en Sparc.
