complete root cause analysis.

Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualifications: National Diploma/ Bachelor’s degree in IT related field (Computer Science,
Information Technology/Engineering) and/or equivalent (NQF level and Credits). CCNA Certificate will serve as an
added advantage. Experience: 5 years’ experience in Wide Area Network (WAN), Troubleshooting Technology,
Network topology, Network Design, Application Layer and routing protocols.
Technical Competencies Description
Organizational Awareness: Network Infrastructure; IT and Government Industry; IT Products and
Services Knowledge of: Incident Restoration and network principles; Internet, Application Layer
protocols, services and standards; Computer and network principles; Multi-Protocol Label Switching
(MPLS); Virtual Private Network (VPN); Wide Area Network (WAN); Local Area Network (LAN) Quality
of Service (QOS); Routing and Switching; Carrier Services; Service Level Agreement (SLA) reporting.
A solid understanding of: Network Management Systems; VPN technologies and concepts Modems;
Carrier technology; Cabling Principles; Troubleshooting WAN Technologies. Skills: Technical: Proficiency
in routing and switching technologies; ITIL Fault, configuration, accounting performance and security
management. Communication skills; Speaking / verbal Expression; Writing; Reading;
Interpersonal Skills; Team player; Self-Management Skills; Initiative; Integrity; Self Esteem;
Ability to handle pressure; Intellectual Skills; Information Scanning; Lateral Thinking; Judgement;

communication networks, and must make sure the systems will work together. Leadership Skills:
Expected to lead other engineers during resolution of complex problems.

to interact with leadership and external customers. Incumbent must be willing to consult and interact with
Government officials, standards generating bodies, accreditation and certification bodies. Ability to work
independently under minimal supervision.
