A permanent position exists within the PICC Support Unit for a Senior Project Manager at the IDC Head office Sandton branch, reporting to the Head of PICC.
KEY ROLES RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Co-ordinate, lead and develop a robust localisation pipeline incorporating black industrialist to create a medium to long term project pipeline for the IDC.
- Leading and managing the engagement with key stakeholders at all levels of government and State Owned Companies(SOC’s) including the private sector to crate opportunities for localisation and black industrialist.
- Assessment of projects and providing input into the development of the project while linking it to the IDC mandate.
- Representing the IDC on project steering committees in development of existing projects as well developing new industries.
- Representing IDC and PICC on industry task teams and at industry seminars by unlocking project development, localisation and black industrialist opportunities
- Monitoring and providing input into a project from inception through to due diligence and disbursement.
- Manage the demand and supply planning across the SIP with the aim of industrialising infrastructure and optimising collective spend and efficiencies.
- Ensuring that key developmental objectives such as localisation, skills development and Local economic development is maximised in various projects.
- Manage and monitor the reporting dashboard as per the PICC reporting requirements for SIP projects and localisation targets within the SIP’s
- Support the implementation of the black industrialist programme across the SOC and IDC
- Unblocking constraints which hinder industrialization

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
- Minimum 10 years project analysis and project implementation experience in industrial infrastructure in the following sectors: rail , road , energy and water
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, financial modelling, project management techniques and the coordination of people and project resources.
- Knowledge of government regulations and procurement processes as it relates to infrastructure projects.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with various stakeholder groups, government officials, and project developers and the ability to use these relationships to identify, develop or fast track new business opportunities or project deliverables.
- Exposure in putting together projects and should have worked on projects where you would have turned concepts into fundable projects, or worked from conceptual stage through to bankable stage.
- Ability to manage multiple work streams and projects and extract opportunities.
- Ability to review financial statements and/or project reports, or other project performance data to measure productivity or goal achievement or to identify areas needing intervention or program improvement.
- Understanding of industry markets and ability to undertake and interpret market research.
- Detailed understanding of investigation studies and ability to evaluate project ideas.
- Sound grasp of technologies employed in infrastructure projects, and the key success factors in implementation of these projects.
- Work experience with Chief /Head of Procurement in SOC’s, provinces and municipalities.
