We are a small youth development NGO based in Port Elizabeth.
Our organisation seeks an experienced youth worker with relevant qualifications.
Responsibilities will include:
Provide support and expertise to our organisation in satisfying children/youth physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs
Collecting information relevant to students needs and assessing their relevant skills, strengths and deficits.
Assisting staff to identify problems and develop plans of action accordingly
Assisting youth to identify and access community resources including legal, medical and financial assistance housing, employment, transportation, day care and other referral services.
Providing crisis intervention and conflict resolutions
Implementing life skills workshops, substance abuse treatment programs, behaviour management programs, youth services programs and other community and social service programs under the supervision of social work or health care professionals.
Assisting in evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and programs by monitoring and reporting on youth progress.
Maintaining contact with other social service agencies, schools and health care providers involved with clients to provide information and obtain feedback on youth overall situation and progress.
Community project planning and implementation
Facilitating Life Skills programmes
Conducting home visits and support planning
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Applicable social auxiliary work qualification
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
- Life Skills facilitation experience
- Counselling experience
- Community development experience
- Must know PE and surrounding areas
- Must be fluent in English (Xhosa Afrikaans will be advantages)
- Must have excellent planning skills
- Must be computer literate
- Must have sound reporting writing skills
- Must have excellent communication skills
