Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Manager – Airports Company South Africa

The successful candidate, reporting to the Group Manager: Governance and Resilience will be responsible for the following:

  • Responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the Disaster Recovery plans and Business Continuity provision;
  • Ensure that all systems have business continuity plan in place, ensuring that processes and procedures are available in a disaster situation;
  • Manage the overall Business Continuity Planning /Disaster Recovery(BCP/DR) testing process as well as report results to the business and senior IT management;
  • Work with the development, service introduction and testing teams to produce the BCP/ DR operational acceptance criteria;
  • Liaise with infrastructure architects and service owners to ensure internal business continuity procedures are implemented and are aligned with expectations of ACSA;
  • Complete operational risk assessments and escalate key issues (where necessary);
  • Audit the day-to-day service continuity provision to ensure it is fit for purpose;
  • Ensure all critical IT services are maintained and available to business nationwide and effective failovers are in place;
  • Monitor adherence to statutory regulations, organizational standards, policies and procedures.

Technical Skills and Experience:
The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such, will be required

  • Relevant Bachelor€™s Degree;
  • Specialized skills in business continuity planning, disaster recovery planning, risk analysis and problem resolution;
  • 6 years€™ operational experience in business continuity planning recovery and disaster recovery
  • Working Knowledge of the Aviation / Transport and/or Airports industries as well as Technology Trends and an appreciation of the dynamics of the public sector;
  • Code B; Motor vehicle license.

The successful incumbent will be diplomatic, able to communicate clearly and professionally in multiple formats. Exercise good judgment when making decisions and takes into account both facts and personal experience in line with the dominant values of the organization. It is essential that the candidate actively builds and manages social networks while consistently achieving results. It is vital that the incumbent takes new ideas from conception to fruition by managing the innovation process, sets definite milestones and actions for achieving goals, is well organized and methodical and be able to solve problems.
