Position Purpose :
As Executive Head for New Business Development, develop and implement a national marketing strategy for the ports of
South Africa as an integrated system of ports within the transport logistic networks, in association with our key economic
partners and stakeholders in respect of trade facilitation and attracting new business, which is aligned to the Port
Development Framework Plans. To identify and define and implement action required to bring such new business
opportunities to fruition to enable sustainability of the South African port system. To facilitate, negotiate and conclude
agreements for new Port Facilities and Terminals in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations and policies and
procedures.
Position outputs :
– Develop and implement a TNPA National marketing Strategy;
– Position the ports of South Africa in line with the marketing plan as a complementary system of ports in line with their
natural hinterland as well as a niche markets in terms of the Port Developments Framework Plans;

– To grow TNPA customer base, volume and revenue streams through collaborative relationships;
– Pro-actively engage potential customers and markets to secure new business for the TNPA;
– Realise long term TNPA S56 Greenfields and brownfields projects;
– Develop port logistics solutions for projects to achieve new business at reduced and/or reasonable lead times;
– Develop and implement NBD Organisation structure aligned with the National Marketing strategy and capable of delivering
on the NBD objectives contained in the Corporate plan and Market Demand strategy;
– Develop, implement and periodically review the Government Framework for progressing NBD initiatives across the South
African ports system, including formulation of applicable policies and procedures within such Governance framework;
– Management of interfaces and deriving value from various strategic and supporting functions, i.e. Customer Relations,
Property, Legal, Risk and Compliance, Planning and Infrastructure, Environmental Management, Transnet Organisational
Departments, etc.;
– Oversee and direct the design and implementation of a reporting system for progress on NBD initiatives – reporting of
variances, compile and implement corrective action plans;
– Compile and manage national budget in relation with guidelines and market developments i.e. Consolidate and manage
New Business revenue budget on a national basis;
– Provide in conjunction with Economic portfolio relevant market intelligence from research and benchmarking perspectives;
– Human Capital Development i.e. Recruitment Selection, Training Developments, Performance Management, Employee
Relations and Talent Management.
Qualifications Experience :
– Relevant Commercial/Business Management/Marketing MBA degree-5 years;
– Logistics Management Degree/National Diploma;
– A minimum of 12 years’ relevant experience within a Sales and/or Logistics managerial function of a large organisation.
