Specification

To support the HRBP Team by acting as the lead on a range of different projects and responsibilities. Coordinate the day to day functioning of the HRBP Team and related activities of the team. Line Management responsibility for all HR Business Partners.

Working Conditions

  • Office based with frequent travel between other campuses as appropriate

Job functions

  • Coordination and Management of the Team
  • Translate the HR strategy to operational strategy for the Team.
  • Act as a team lead and oversee all functions and processes relating to the team.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the team on all day to day activities.
  • Provide necessary tools for the HRBPs to do their jobs effectively.
  • Manage training needs and development of the Team in line with training plan.
  • Provide an overview and interpretation of conditions of service, HR Services Charter, HR policies and procedures and related legislation. Ensure consistent implementation thereof.
  • Provide mentorship and coach to the Team.
  • Manage the performance of the Team. To actively manage direct reports, ensuring that performance, probationary meetings (where applicable) and regular one to one meetings take place to assist to drive up standards within the team and to ensure that the team provide a high level of customer service at all times.

Service Delivery

  • Support the implementation of HR strategy (e.g. implementation and alignment of the faculty’s (HR) operational plan. i.e. priorities for 2015 e.g. EE Targets) in the business by ensuring that the HR delivery is fully aligned to business goals within their functions.
  • Support the effective delivery of a higher performing HR service, through the further development of the HR Business Partners, ensuring that the high standards within the team are developed and maintained.
  • Acting as an ambassador for the HR Business Partner model, actively driving up standards to highlight the benefits of the model for all staff and managers.
  • To oversee the implementation and delivery of key HR initiatives and projects. as the key interface between professional HR and the Faculty/Divisions working with Centres of Excellence.
  • Manage interface between HR sub-divisions, Payroll, Budget Controller. Institute and coordinate monthly process meetings in order to ensure effective management of interdependencies.

  • In conjunction with the Resourcing Team, provide guidance and advice to the HRBP Team in overseeing the recruitment process from vacancy to placement for their respective Faculties and Divisions in line with the set Service Level Agreement and the relevant policies and procedures (Resourcing Policy, etc.)
  • Ensure effective vacancy management of academic and support positions.
  • Oversee the annual position budgeting process in conjunction with HRBPs and Budget Controller.
  • Effectively manage the relationship between HRBPs and ley stakeholders in the process
  • Ensure that that the employee life cycle (from appointment to exit) is well managed by HRBPs. This will include ensuring that key process of probation management, development, retention, promotion and exit management strategies, etc. are implemented.
  • Quality assure all reports and submissions to the Director for sign off.
  • Ensure that consolidated management reporting is done for the Team

Quality Assurance, Governance and Risk

  • Ensure data integrity and quality assurance of Team documents and reports.
  • Implement HR business processes and report on levels of compliance.
  • Identify and report HR related risks (including potential risks) and develop strategies and implementation plans to minimize/eliminate risk.
  • Monitor EE compliance and advise line on mitigating and or curtailing risk.
  • Ensure compliance of required documentation or policy e.g. Declaration of Interest.
  • Forge and encourage close working relationships with all stakeholders on who HRBP depend to deliver on their respective service level agreements.
  • Comply with SLA/terms of reference as agreed with line.

Minimum Requirements…
• NQF8 HR qualification or relevant equivalent

• At least 5 years’ experience of working as a HR generalist, of which 3 must be in an advisory role.

• At least 2-3 years team leader/supervisory experience within the 5 years of working in Human Resources

• Valid Code EB drivers’ licence
