Main Purpose
Main purpose of this position is to facilitate empowerment sessions for youth, mentor and support
youth as part of the YWG programme.
Requirements:

 Grade 12 or equivalent

 Previous experience in youth mentoring, facilitation, counselling, working with youth, HIV
related work

 Knowledge of child protection policies and relevant legislation within the social services
professions sector

 Knowledge of public health and community resources

 Fluent in English, Xhosa and/or Afrikaans

 Applicants must be from the Klipfontein / Mitchells Plain District.

 Counseling skills

 Leadership

 Working knowledge of HIV

 Ability to relate well to youth between 14 and 24 years of age

 Ability to work as a part of a team

 Must be dynamic, innovative and self-motivated

 Good computer (Ms Office – Word, Excel)), administration and report writing skills

 Ability to build interpersonal relationships

 Good planning and organizing skills

 Ability to work under pressure

Responsibilities:

 To attend all training sessions

 To be able to facilitate sessions with confidence by the end of the training

 To run sessions for youth. These sessions will cover the topics of coping and support,

HIV health and safer sex

 To submit regular reports

 Perform all relevant administrative duties

 To report back after each session and take part in debriefing and further training support

 To follow up on specific cases and refer them to Social Auxiliary Worker

 To take part in post intervention interviews
