Essential Requirements:
Requirement : An appropriate post graduate degree in Transport Economics or Transport Logistics or Industrial Engineering or similar with a minimum 3-5 years of experience in freight transport logistics and operations, project management and business intelligence applications. ? Ability to work under pressure and deliver timeously. ? Excellent people management skills.
Key Performance Areas:
Responsibility: The incumbent will be responsible for providing shareholder oversight of the state owned freight company, Transnet. This involves ensuring that the operational strategies and plans of Transnet address the existing inefficiencies and respond to the freight demands of the economy.
Duties: Develop Shareholder Compact performance indicators and monitor the performance of Transnets operating divisions, conduct benchmarking studies on operational key performance areas for Transnet; Coordinate and facilitate the finalisation of the Shareholder Compact; Management of the National Corridor Performance Measurement system; Monitor and assess Transnets operational strategies; Ensure continuous productive communication, consultation and strategic alignment within the Department and between the Transport Unit and external stakeholders, including government, private sector, business and labour. Carry the responsibility of technical adviser to the Department on Transnets operations.
