Essential Requirements:

  • An appropriate post graduate degree in Economic Regulation or Transport Economics or Economics or similar qualification with a minimum 5 years middle/senior managerial level experience in economic regulation, economics and quantitative analysis
  • Competition regulation or economics of competition will be an added advantage
  • Problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Leadership potential
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver timeously.

Key Performance Areas:
Research and analysis into economic regulation of rail, ports and pipelines, Development of strategic positions of the Department relating to economic regulation of rail, ports and pipelines; Conduct work necessary for the DPE€™s contribution to the establishment of the Interim Rail Economic Regulatory Capacity, Rail Economic Regulator and Single Transport Economic Regulator; Monitor the regulatory decisions of existing economic regulators and their effect on Transnet€™s strategy and its financial sustainability; and carry the responsibility of technical adviser to the Department on economic regulation and competition regulation matters.
