Amazon Development Centre South Africa is looking for passionate software developers to join us and help to solve a challenging set of problems in the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) space.
This team is responsible for mapping individual instance-launch requests to physical hosts. As such, we’re critical to EC2’s proper functioning. We’re also key to EC2’s ability to deliver novel customer-features and improve efficiencies. The team’s problem-space is particularly interesting, as it requires us to build systems which solve multi-axis optimization problems in real-time, involving elements of control theory. - Strong customer focus
- Experience with Ruby, Perl, Java or C/C++
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
- Strong Computer Science fundamentals
- Strong analytical skills with excellent problem solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of industry experience, including internships
- Experience with Linux development
- Expertise in delivering high-quality, innovative applications
- Knowledge of system performance methodologies along with hands on empirical monitoring
- Strong desire to build, sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
- Excellent written communication and verbal agility
