Position Purpose :
To analyse, interpret and recommend in respect of income and expenditure characteristics, assisting with preparation
consolidation of the annual operating and capital budgets, accurate and timeous reporting of financial and statistical
information, assisting in compiling of financial models.
Position outputs :Compilation of Operational Statistics:
- Vessel Register: Compile and prepare the daily Vessel Register of Arrival Departures of vessels calling at the ports.
Ensure validity, accuracy completeness of such information.
- Berth Occupancy: Prepare monthly report on berth utilization.
- Vessel Turnaround Time: Prepare monthly report on turnaround time of vessels.
Ensure accuracy of vessels report from ERP SAP according to vessel type and purpose of call by comparing information with
VTS report, forward necessary changes to Revenue department.

Compilation of Commodity Statistics – Cargo Volumes invoiced, i.e. Containers, Break Bulk, Liquid Bulk and Dry Bulk, weekly
and monthly.(HQ Formats Port Specific formats)
Reconciled total marine invoicing against total port income statement and make necessary changes where applicable before
month-end.
Review income statement (Security, Engineering, Property, Marine Operations, Harbour Master) and forward all adjusting /
corrections to Financial Accounting (General Ledger) office for journals.
Reconciliation of SAP Modules FI CO.
Financial – Income Statement (Monthly): Compile Income Statement and reasons for deviations to HQ
Financial – Capital (Monthly):
- Compile Capital Schedule and reasons for deviations to HQ.
- Compile Capital Reports per Business Unit Manager.
Minor Works Capital: Managing process of allocation and keep track of Minor Capital to ensure adequate spending in terms
of Transnet Policies.
Prepare financial presentations for Business Units, i.e. EXCO presentation, OPCO presentation and ad hoc requests.
Perform monthly budget review meetings with Business Unit Managers (i.e. Engineering, Property, Marine Operations,
Harbour Master, etc.).
Assisting Business Unit Managers with compiling and submission of Capital Operational Budgets as well as facilitating the
annual budget workshop.
Calculation preparation of Obsolete Stock (Mid-Year and at Year End); Lease Smoothing adjustments as per IFRS
(Monthly); Calculation capturing of Labour Rates to be used in Maintenance Financial System (Beginning of new financial
year) as well as any other financial calculations required.
Perform various reconciliations, i.e. Property Lessees (Rental Income, Ancillary Municipal Recoveries), Labour Head Count,
Electricity Water Consumption, Marine Diesel consumption, Repairs Maintenance, Research Development, etc.)
Provide inputs into tariff model.
Perform Financial Evaluations and compiling of Financial Models
Prepare requisitions for Non Stock and Stock Items.
Perform CAPIC secretarial duties.
Qualifications Experience :
- M + 3 (Cost Management Accounting or Equivalent)
- At least 3 – 5 years’ experience in Finance field / environment.
