JOB OVERVIEW
During 2016 MSF Southern Africa embarks on an Awareness Raising Campaign/Branding Campaign to elevate the recognition of MSF as an emergency medical humanitarian organisation among people (target groups to be defined) in major cities in South Africa. The campaign and its activities seeks to increase the breadth of awareness about MSF and to contribute to defining the “medical humanitarian action” category for South Africans. The desired outcome is a level of basic awareness of what Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is and does while providing a backdrop for audience specific actions that aim for deeper awareness and engagement.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Campaign Consultant will have expertise derived from work experience in the South African advertising and marketing industry and technical insight into strategy, campaign production, media buying and roll-out.
The Campaign Consultant is responsible for:
Working with the MSF Campaign Project Team to develop and finalise the campaign concept
Finalising a brief to creative agencies to develop the campaign content
Work with the Project Team solicit proposals/quotes from creative agencies and make a final selection based on proposal reviews
Managing the development and execution of the following elements, working with the Campaign Coordinator and Project Team:
- Campaign strategy, messages and creative elements – visuals, slogans etc.
- Campaign media buys – dissemination roll-out plan
The Consultant will act as liaison with the agency in the development and early execution and monitoring phases
Serve as an advisor to MSF on campaign best practice
EDUCATION
An advanced university degree in Communication, Advertising or Marketing
EXPERIENCE
5-7 years professional work experience in the advertising or marketing industry as creative director, copywriter, campaign strategist, media planner or account manager
Proven project management experience
An interest and understanding of humanitarian action
Experience in visual storytelling or graphic design is sought after
Proven social media savvy and online campaigning skills are a significant asset
MS Office proficiency essential, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop proficiency desirable
LANGUAGES
Excellent writing and editing skills in English
