Introduction
Digby Wells Environmental, a service provider to the resources industry, is looking for a candidate for a Fauna and Flora Internship position in their Bryanston office. The successful candidate will be required to provide expert advice and assistance in the management and compilation of reports such as Biodiversity Assessments, Action plans, and EMPs, relating to Environmental Impact assessments and stand alone reports.
Job Objectives
• Plan and conduct scientifically defendable field surveys for data collection in support of specialist studies.
• Classifying said organisms according to their species and characteristics (taxonomy).
• Apply sampling strategies and employ habitat survey techniques GPS, aerial photography, sonar images, and maps etc.
• Conduct and manage assessments as part of a project such as (Fauna and Flora and Biodiversity assessments etc.)
• Compile and review scientific reports for submission to client and/or legal authorities.

Requirements
• Qualifications: BSc degree (MSc preferred) in related field. Botany, Zoology, Environmental Management.
• Specialists knowledge ofFauna (Mammals, Avifauna, Herpetafauna and Invertebrates) and Flora (Botany);
• Environmental Management
• Project Management (Financial Management);
• Detailed understanding and application of applicable environmental legislation
• Research methodologies;
• Knowledge of land management would be advantageous;
• Understanding of Biodiversity Action Plans.
