Abous us. Neverland Creative is a small, talented team of passionate, young and clever creatives behind some of the nation’s leading food and wine concepts. While you may not know our name, we’re the team responsible for projects like SecretEATS ( www.thesecreteats.com ), [spasie] ( www.spasie.co ), A Single Taste ( www.asingletaste.com ), More Than Food ( www.morethanfood.co.za ) and The Secret Masquerade ( www.secret-saturday.com ). We are actively seeking a seasoned professional to join our team and lead the execution of our Digital Marketing efforts. This is not an entry level role, however, we are willing to consider internship applications as well.

Neverland is an experiential events and creative execution engine driven by word-of-mouth and digital marketing. From conception through execution, our team takes an idea, develops the roadmap and executes on the experience. As Digital Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for the content development and execution across all five internal brands and two to three external clients. In essence, you are working on seven independent and distinct brands with different voices, messages and objectives. For this reason, you need to be someone who can wear multiple hats and think creatively across different clients and projects.

Core responsibilities

Your core responsibilities will include:
developing, scheduling and executing content for email campaigns, social media, blog posts, video interviews / digital activations and press releases

strategising campaign and content ideas with the internal brand teams and senior leadership and then executing on approved ideas

implementing reporting tools to track performance of digital campaigns and growth over time

direct and targeted outreach to potential partners (i.e. – chefs, venues, wine farms, artists, musicians, etc.) via digital channels

initial email communications and co-oordination with potential partners to drive business growth

monitoring social media platforms, blogs/online magazines and travel review sites for brand engagement and response

continually generating content and buzz on digital platforms and advising the business when / if there is a lack of content

managing web site updates, content refreshes and blog posts

assisting with incoming email responses to marketing campaigns

evaluation and testing of potential new content platforms as the brands expand internationally and as it becomes relevant (SnapChat, LinkedIn, Google+, etc.)

Our Digital Marketing Manager is a passionate, driven leader experienced in content development, digital brand building and social media marketing. The right candidate will bring experience in WordPress, basic HTML, photo editing and basic SEO principles. No, you don’t need to be a designer but you will also be working with a wide range of web marketing, design and online social media services so it is important that you have experience with graphic design or are an extremely quick learner and committed to developing the skill on your own time. It is key that you know how to re-size images, add text to images, have some basic photoshop / InDesign skill and that you know your way around the back-end of a WordPress site to update content.

The right applicant for this role is not looking for just another job; you are looking for a hands-on, intensive commitment to the growth of our own individual brands and the growth of our client brands. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, witty and charming — both in person and through the written word. You are also motivated and driven by success and the tangible results of their work as the engagement with our client brands via digital platforms grows. We are looking for a passionate, driven individual who doesn’t settle for less than outstanding work and is willing to put in the hard work that takes a brand from good to great. We’d also like you to have a sense of humour. Oh, and, if you ever worked on digital for HM in South Africa, please do not apply. See? That was funny.

Finally, this is a unique opportunity to work for an international team that has conceptualised, developed and executed five exciting, distinct concepts in the South African market with plans for continued expansion. You will be working hand-in-hand with our Managing Director who brings the experience of working in digital marketing and brand development at American Express back in New York before moving to South Africa. As we continue to grow the Neverland Creative brand, you and your role will grow with the brand over time. You should deem yourself capable of managing a small team of digital creatives within a 12-month period. There is an initial three month probationary period that must be agreed to where the candidate will need to have demonstrated and proven results based on key objectives.

Applying

To apply for this position, we’re asking you to get creative and to go digital. Sure, we want to see your CV but first we want you to get our attention via any digital platform with one of our core brands in whatever way you best see fit. Yes, we’re asking you to get creative here before you’ve even landed an interview. But, here’s the thing to know — THIS is what’s going to land you the interview. So, rather than send us a boring cover letter detailing your experience and risk getting lost in the masses, do something that’s going to make you shine. Just, do us one favour and follow these guidelines:

Get in touch on any of the following digital platforms: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Email (but like a really, really well-designed one), Your Blog or Web Site

Demonstrate why you want to work on brands like SecretEATS, [spasie] or More Than Food and tag one of the brands in your submission

Finally, email us on hello@morethanfood.co.za with the subject line: “Hire Me for your Digital Marketing Manager Because…”

In your email, be sure to tell us a little about you, show us what you did to try to get our attention and work your written charms on us to score an interview

If we like what we see, we’ll be in touch to have a conversation and see if you could be the right fit for our team.

Please, we urge you to only proceed if you’re a serious applicant and strongly encourage you to pull out all of the stops to impress us. Remember, there are no second chances at first impressions.
