The Department
The Trans-Atlantic (TAS) trade is managed by the MOL Rotterdam Trades who also manages the Europe-South Africa product of MOL. The Rotterdam Trades team is responsible for the set-up and the management of the Trans-Atlantic and the Europe-South Africa products of MOL and hence the US to South Africa corridor. Being a customer driven organization the Rotterdam Trades have also teams set-up in Lombard (USA) for the Trans-Atlantic trade and in Cape Town (South Africa) for the Europe-South Africa trade.
The Lombard based Trans-Atlantic Trade team focusses on the TAS Eastbound corridor for which they focus on the execution of the commercial strategy policy; pricing; result optimization (yield management), marketing business analysis and performance management. Within this team the Manager leads the team to ensure the above tasks are executed with the aim to maximize net proceeds.
Responsibilities
- Propose, execute, coordinate and monitor the pricing policy for the Eastbound TAS Trade in line with the commercial strategy policy agreed upon in order to maximize net proceeds.
- Analyze and quote on tender bids in cooperation with the respective Account Owners locally and overseas
- Actively steer and drive the Trans-Atlantic Eastbound performance to meet the Key Performance Objectives agreed upon. This will require active participation in meetings and VC’s with other MOLAM based team (Trade, Sales, etc.)
- Lead the Lombard based Trans-Atlantic Trade team with the aim to achieve the personnel and team goals and contribute to the continuous development of the Trades’ processes and output.
- Optimize the result by regularly monitoring cost with the aim to minimize cost through cargo mix and match-back improvement.
- Coordinate with PCLC and Atlanta VOS to optimize the Trans-Atlantic trade allocation. This includes regular updating and implementation of the TAS EB protect lists and monitor allocations vs performance on both account and regional level.
- Assist in developing and maintaining marketing information tools. Assist in developing and establishing a marketing strategy and share all the relevant marketing data with the regional organization to enhance their knowledge and assist in driving the performance.
- Assist MOLAM with ROC (Regional Operations Centre) on Trans-Atlantic related issues with G6 partners where control for transport is based in Europe.
- Keep Sales force informed by notification of issues; answering questions and responding to requests related to our service or pricing.
- Assist the Rotterdam Trades AVP in preparing the financial budget and analyzing the monthly PL
- Inform the MOL front office organization (MOLAM and others) with the pricing and product related info they require performing their responsibilities (i.e. Publish pricing schedules, etc.)
- File rates and rules that meet Federal Maritime Commission regulations without fail.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of five years’ experience with MOL or other shipping-related company.
- Good analytical and communication skills
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Windows, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- A self-starter who is a team-player with a positive attitude, highly organized and adept at multitasking.
