Shipping Manager (Arts Crafts) – Cape Town
The successful candidate will need to manage the process from start to finish as follows:
Candidate should have the following expertise:
1. Meet the client onsite at one of the three stores in Western Cape.
2. Measure and weigh the products the client is interested in.
3. Get an exact quote for the client via one of our shipping partners. Turnaround time should be 10 minutes.
4. If the client decides to go ahead with purchase, all paperwork and payment should be completed.
5. Arrange delivery of the goods to our warehouse.
6. Supervise the crating and fumigation process which is done at our warehouse.
7. Arrange delivery of the crates to the port/ airport.
8. Liase with client until such a time as they receive their goods in their home country.
9. Should there be damaged or missing items, manage the insurance claim.
1. At least 5 years experience in the shipping industry.
2. Good knowledge of all certification requirements. Please note we deal with a lot of wood and animal products which often need a lot of extra paperwork.
3. Good knowledge of government, customs and duty regulations both locally and internationally.
Matric
5 years experience in a Shipping Management/ Supervisory position
9am – 9pm, 365 days per year. Therefore the candidate should be willing to work evening shifts, weekends and public holidays if and when necessary.
Seasonal Business, ie. we have very busy periods and very quiet periods. If there is a time when there is insufficient shipping admin to keep candidate busy, they will be expected to help out their colleagues in the head office.
The successful candidate will be primarily based at the V A Waterfront but will have to regularly travel to our Woodstock warehouse and other branches e.g. Franschoek.
