Qualification:
Marketing graduate. BA, BCOMM or any related marketing or communications degree or diploma.
A qualification in digital or content marketing would be advantageous.
The candidate must have a strong interest in pursuing a career in digital and content marketing.
Competencies
- A strong interest in food, people and a basic commercial awareness of the foodservice industry are helpful to begin a graduate career in marketing within the foodservice industry.
- Academic skills, (from a relevant communications or marketing degree) and the ability to interpret complex information, solve problems and work to deadlines will support the following necessary skills.
Interpersonal and communication skills:
- They will be required to build an understanding of the end user (outlet) as well as the needs of the business, and express these to other members of their team and translate these needs into a marketing campaign. As such, good communication skills are vital.
- They must have a firm understanding of how to communicate across all media (including digital) platforms.
Presentation:
This skill set is closely linked to communication.
What is important here is the ability to visually or verbally present information in a way that is accessible to your entire audience.
Creativity:
Depending on their role, they may be required to write copy for marketing materials and press releases or help with the development of multi-media communications. On top of this, their work may involve contributing to the ideas stage of planning a campaign.
Innovation is prized as consumers get more media-savvy.
Teamwork:
They will be required to work towards a coordinated campaign which may involve many different elements and media.
It is essential that account managers, creatives and executives work closely to ensure that the needs of the business are met and the campaign is cohesive and effective.
IT skills:
It is essential that they have adequate IT skills as marketing is increasingly conducted through online channels.
They must also be able to collate, store and present market data effectively using computer technology.
Commercial awareness:
An understanding of the market, consumer wants and needs and the business requirements of the client are essential for success in a marketing role, hence the importance of market research.
Trade publications and company press releases, as well as keeping an eye on the financial markets can help build up this knowledge.
Organisation and planning:
This skill involves sorting information or objects so that they are easy to find when they are needed.
Time management and planning skills are also essential for the execution of well-planned campaigns.
Stamina:
Candidates should be resilient and have the ability to overcome setbacks in the tasks they undertake.
They must also be aware that a marketing department works many overtime hours.
Ability to work under pressure:
This is about keeping calm in a crisis and not becoming too overwhelmed or stressed. It is the ability to work toward tight deadlines and under pressurised conditions.
Confidence:
In the workplace candidates need to strike the balance of being confident in themselves but not be arrogant.
They should also have confidence in their colleagues and the company they work for.

A busy marketing department needs a person with a lot of get-up-and-go.

Responsibilities
- We need a detail-oriented junior content marketing intern who can learn to create flawless content, juggle multiple projects, collaborate with the internal team, meet deadlines, and have fun while doing it.
Duties / Responsibilities.
- Write creative (and sometimes technical) blog posts, source photos and other rich media, and post to company blogs.
- Brainstorm, develop, and post social media updates for the company across multiple industries on multiple platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, etc.)
- Promote blog posts and contests via Facebook Ads, LinkedIn Ads and other promotional websites.
- Monitor and listen to social streams and respond to comments in real time.
- Monitor Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, and other social network analytics to ensure engagement and success metrics are being reached.
- Liaise with Content Manager about approved social media content, blog post topics, and other material as it relates to social media.
- Collaborate with internal teams to cross-promote search engine optimization, paid media advertising, website conversion optimization, and other digital marketing initiatives.
