DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB: To support the delivery of DBSSSA’s internal communications strategy. To enable DBSSSA and other De Beers Business units in Kimberley to deliver key communications to staff, and other stakeholders in a planned way. Senior Communications Officer.docx KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS : Manage implementation of Internal Communications strategy Develop internal communications plans for De Beers Sightholder Sale South Africa and other De Beers Business Units in Kimberley.

Determine the most effective and appropriate timing for the delivery of communication interventions to different stakeholders. Work with internal stakeholders to understand Group-wide objectives and translate them into market specific and environment shaping messages. Conduct regular Internal Communication audits. Stakeholder management and engagement Maintain relations with relevant externals stakeholders, with emphasis on media to ensure effective communication of information on DBSSSA and other De Beers Business units in Kimberley Engage with employees to maintain high spirits and employee morale Collaborate, develop relationships and networks with relevant stakeholders ensuring optimum service delivery and marketing of the organization Manage and co-ordinate visits and events for DBSSSA Arrange and host visits, presenting the professional and favorable image of DBSSSA to all stakeholders, using business knowledge to give presentations and to answer questions relating to the diamond business/process and global business knowledge.

Arrange and co-ordinate all strategic events/functions for DBSSSA, ensuring key messaging is delivered and driven through these events Communications budget and ensure adherence to allocated budget Assist in compiling the budget by providing information based on operational requirements and submits to Corporate Affairs Manager- De Beers Kimberley Region for sign off Recommend and incorporate cost saving initiatives into the budget and control expenditure within approved parameters Sign off accounts for payment and utilise SAP systems Monitor all expenditure against agreed budget and report to management on progress Manage and co-ordinate media relations Manage all Regional media relations in close liaison with the Senior Vice President of DBSSSA and Corporate Affairs Manager. Manage the reputation risk of the company through effective media relations. Identify and prioritise target media relevant to the local environment, in line with local objectives and build transparent and productive relationships with key journalists. Monitor, analyse and disseminate media coverage for the Kimberley region.

SKILLS/ COMPETENCIES : Ability to influence, persuade and engage, with a good business acumen, political and diplomatic savvy. The ability to pick up key messages and exploit them optimally, with good interpersonal and communication skills, innovative thinking, good planning and organising skills, thoroughness and attention to detail. Confident, socially skilled, pro-active, open-minded and challenging. To effectively present both themselves and the organisation they represent and a willingness to response to unexpected circumstances.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications Experience: Degree in Communication, Public Relations or equivalent qualification. Proven experience in a Public Relations / Communication environment, gained in a high profile corporate environment. A minimum of 3 years’ experience, in a similar role, with demonstrated ability to work with little supervision English language proficiency with excellent writing skills to prepare and edit articles ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Please inform your immediate line manager of your intention to apply.
