Job Purpose
To implement the core CSI Strategy for Education in SBSA by working with implementing partners to deliver CSI initiatives. This includes:
- providing intelligence which guides the identification and/or design of social investment initiatives which align with our CSI focus areas (currently Education and Employee Community Involvement);
- providing intelligence to guide the identification and selection of implementation partners to execute identified projects;
- provide support to the Head: CSI to identify and understand key social issues in social development to ensure that the bank’s CSI strategy is appropriately responsive to those issues.
- Manage current investments in the Education portfolio, demonstrating knowledge of the field, engaging with key role players and keeping up to date with developments in the field.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Manage CSI programmes in Education:
- Facilitating due diligence of organisations with whom the bank partners and the interventions they execute where this applies;
- Completing annual contracting procedures with implementing partners
- Working with contracted implementing partners to achieve agreed objectives
- Ensuring that efficient monitoring and evaluation processes are in place and effective tracking thereof ensues
- Facilitating regular progress reporting
- Supporting organisation to implement corrective action if projects are not on track
- Managing allocated budgets for the project portfolio
- To provide liaison and assistance to the provincial offices with regards to the execution of the core CSI strategy including the identification of priority local municipalities for social investments and to workshop the business case for each;
- Engage with business to ensure optimal leverage of the CSI portfolio to deliver shared value
- Manage optimised business and improved reputational brand value;
- Ensure effective teamwork and collaboration with internal stakeholders including Group Marketing, Events, Finance, Legal, Audit and Tax;
- Maintain an up to date filing system for all matters that relate to the Education portfolio;
- Generate and compile accurate data for presentations, meetings and relevant reports relating to the Education portfolio;
- Manage the day to day operations of assessing requests and all other required general project management and administration duties, as assigned by the Head: CSI;
- To perform any task that may from time to time be assigned
- Projects executed in alignment with the approved Education strategy;
- Managed internal stakeholders and external stakeholders;
- Communicated CSI projects and their social and value to the bank;
- Relevant support to be provided to the Head: CSI as may be required for reporting into Standard Bank’s management committees;
- Supported CSI related community development activities where required;
- Improved awareness of Education activities with employees through appropriate platforms;
- Effective Stakeholder management with government and civil society organisations;
- Case studies and “good practice” generated and communicated throughout the Bank;
- Executed risk mitigation strategies around CSI projects and/or initiatives and chosen beneficiaries;
- Facilitated marketing, communications and public relations (PR) around the CSI projects;
- Compilation of the Education portfolio’s budgets and plans;
- Completed processes of identifying and planning of projects, and managing those projects to completion;
- Completed processes of identifying and contracting required implementation partners and/or service providers as and when required; and
- Submission of monthly progress reports on the portfolio.
- Demonstrate implemented, maintained and continuously improved systems for monitoring and evaluation processes within the Education portfolio and projects;
- Effective budget and disbursement management
- Effective Risk monitoring and communication;
- Managed service level agreements and service contracts
- Reports generated and communicated throughout Standard Bank as and when required;
- Data for meetings and reports generated and compiled on time;
Preferred Qualification and Experience
3 – 5 years’ experience in Corporate Social Investment or Community Development related field.
Social Sciences degree advantageous but not compulsory
Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise
- Project management experience
- Adequate general business and CSI knowledge and acumen
- Adequate knowledge of the CSI field
- 3 – 5 Years in Corporate Social Investment or community development field
