Main Purpose
Main purpose of this position is to provide basic Health Lifeskills education to young women
and girls.
Requirements:
Grade 12 or equivalent
Basic counseling/healthcare certificate
Knowledge of public health and community resources
Applicants must be from the Klipfontein / Mitchells Plain District
1-2 years’ experience within an adolescent/youth environment
Health promotion/facilitation/Counselling experience will be advantageous
a sound knowledge of geographical area (Klipfontein/Mitchell’s Plain) will be
advantageous
Fluent in English, Xhosa and/or Afrikaans
Computer literacy (Ms Office – Word, Excel)
Experience in Community engagement
Working knowledge of public health facility rules and regulations
Excellent interpersonal communication and facilitation skills
Ability to work under pressure
Must be dynamic, innovative and self-motivated
Ability to build interpersonal relationships
Responsibilities:
Provide sexual health and lifeskils education to young women and girls 14 – 19 years in
Grades 8 to 11
Facilitate daily educational sessions on HIV, sexual health, communication, decision
making, relationships, gender-based violence and other life skills as per programme
guidelines
Organise special events (e.g. Health and Welfare Jamborees, screenings, guest
speakers) for youth

Conduct individual treatment readiness counselling for sexual and reproductive health
services as needed
Provide referrals to other support services where appropriate (e.g.social worker)
Generate additional education tools as required
Record clinic visits, uptake of sexual and reproductive health services and questionnaire
data) through the use of clinic folders and both Prehmis and DTHF database systems
Assist with compiling of reports on request by PI
Work closely with mobile clinic staff in maintaining an adolescent friendly environment
Maintain research documentation as per SOP’s
Responsible for ensuring that all study related data is entered accurately and timeously
Assist Social Worker and Social Auxiliary Worker assistant during home/school visits
Assist as mediator between participants and clinicians as required
